Kratie Mekong River Bridge Construction On Track

Kratie, March 15, 2024 – On the afternoon of March 14, 2024, a comprehensive inspection of the Kratie Mekong River Bridge and its associated road construction project was conducted by Lim Sidenin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Director of the project. Accompanying him were the Project Implementation Working Group's Undersecretary of State, a Representative of the Kratie Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, along with representatives from the Shanghai construction company and the Guangzhou Van An technical advisory firm.

The site visit led to several directives from the Secretary of State, including recommendations for the construction companies and technical consultants to enhance their construction methods, emphasize construction safety at all phases, and ensure proper lighting is installed on all bridge pillars, particularly at night.

The Secretary of State also pressed the construction company to increase its machinery and adhere strictly to the project timetable. Given the favorable conditions of the dry season, which is an optimal period for laying road foundations, he stressed the importance of quality testing at each stage of construction to meet established standards.

Current updates indicate that 45% of the bridge's construction has been completed, with expectations to finish by September 2025. Meanwhile, progress on the connecting road stands at 15%. Overall, the entire project has reached approximately 30% completion, signifying a steady and positive trajectory towards the anticipated goals.
